At Gamescom 2022, some visitors felt the MontanaBlack audience was limited. The Cologne Fair is now reacting and wants to introduce new rules.
Update 01.09.2022: At our request to Kölnmesse, the organizer sent us a statement on the matter. It reads: ” For us, the safety of all Gamescom visitors is a major concern. Gamescom is a place where all communities meet and feel safe.
That is why we take the events that occurred during the Montana Black visit and the reports of those affected very seriously, and we will do more in the future to prevent such incidents from occurring. In this context, we are once again strengthening our rules for Gamescom 2023 to prevent situations like this from happening again. The visit of Montana Black, which was not previously announced to us, enabled us to respond only in the short term to this situation.
As a direct result, we must be notified in advance of all planned visits by well-known persons in the future and agree with us.
Only then can we ensure that this visit is safe for everyone.”

First notification on 30.08.2022: Cologne – Gamescom is over, but the first edition of Europe’s biggest video game fair after the pandemic broke has not yet been settled. Indeed, peace, joy and play reigned on the show this year. At least until Twitch hit bad boy MontanaBlack and his entourage of rabid fans in the arcades of Gamescom. Testimonials are piling up on Twitter, but what do you think of the Cologne show?
Gamescom 2022: Homosexuality and kicking of MontanaBlack fans
what happened ? Twitter userGameGecki admirably describes how much streamer MontanaBlack visited the show in a lengthy post on the social network. Anti-gay animosity, shoving, kicking, stolen seats in queues and rioting over cars: Fans who ran through the show frightened the show’s visitors—making the trip to Cologne a nightmare.
On Twitter, GameGecki even talks about a painful experience for him. How things came to this, however, remains a mystery until now. In fact, it is the security service in the Cologne Arena that is responsible for preventing such abuses at Gamescom. However, it is not yet known whether the latter took an interest in visiting Montana Black. In any case, no action was taken in the MontanaBlack case.
User GameGecki describes the turbulent events: Neither the security of MontanaBlack nor the security of the affected situation prevented fans from kicking and fighting. Only the famous broadcasting device could have been protected, and visitors would not get this obvious privilege.
