FéminiX / Celebrating Women: From the session to the after party!

Saturday August 6th will be Monreale Pride Phoenix Day. On the list are nothing less than a conference, show and after-party by and for diverse women. “With FéminiX, the Montreal Pride Festival honors women of sexual and gender diversity by honoring them through its programming,” Montreal Pride CEO Simon Gamacci said in a press release.

He added, “FéminiX aims to be a celebratory and inclusive gathering of 2SLGBTQIA+ women and their allies, that highlights and reminds us of their contributions, their realities and, above all, their immense talent.” To do so, the day will begin with the “Influential Lesbian Women” conference that will bring together a team made up of Manon Massey, Quebec Solidere spokesperson, Kahsenhowe Sky der, Senior President of Kahnawa’s Mohawk Council: ke and Florence Gagnon, founder of the Lez Spread the Word platform and Rachel Jean- Pierre, Digital Marketing Specialist. Then, starting at 4pm, DJ Kris Tin and DJ Sam will set up the Olympic Park Esplanade for evening performances, starting with Ariane Moffatt who will join a lineup of artists including Sarahmée, revealing the ADISQ year, crowned singer-songwriter In the language of Atikamekw, Laura Niquay, and rapper Calamine, Révélation Radio-Canada 2021. These accomplished women and artists promise to deliver vibrant performances in their own musical genres, transitioning from pop to rap, and from indie music to disco.

LipstiX, after-party
Finally, the day will end on the Club Soda dance floor with a LipstiX show that promises to take the stage until the early hours of the morning to celebrate in a totally blown-up after-party setting! And for good reason, we’ll find no less than two local DJs and a trio of international DJs on the floors. Like a great lipstick, LipstiX promises to keep you looking great for hours on end. Starting with Montreal DJ Empress Cissy Low, which combines her taste for rave culture and African rhythms, with her new sounds (Afro House, Amabiano, Bailey Funk, etc.). An introduction to events organized by Moonshine led her to discover electronic music emerging from Africa, the Caribbean, and Western Europe. She will know how to immerse you in her world ruled by many rhythms and instruments of African origin in order to share her love of music with you, while contributing to the promotion of a diverse culture. As for Montana, it combines the best of electronica, hip-hop, Latin, dancehall and pop music. The Open-Format coordinator focuses primarily on the party atmosphere as she builds a unique experience in the image of each of her crowd. Step by step, you build a concrete set that lights up the dance floor.

She will also have the opportunity to collaborate and open up to many international DJs, producers, and artists, including Migos, Daddy Yankee, Nicky Jam, Sean Paul, and Steve Aoki, among others. Speaking of famous artists, LipstiX will present the Italian trio of Strulle, composed of Milla (DJ), La T (DJ) and Rrose (on vocals), making for a veritable explosion of electronic and afro music. Since 2007, the trio has performed at all major Italian and European LGBTQIA+ clubs and festivals, including Europe’s largest lesbian festival, the Girlie Arena in Barcelona. With over 3000 shows to their credit, they have shared decks with the best international DJs (Afrojack, Martin Garrix, Axwell, Ingroso). Their diverse repertoire ranges from afro to solid style across rock, electronic, and house music and promises to rock the dance floor all night long! Finally, with producer Carolina Montrose’s animation, you’ll be entitled to many performances and surprises throughout an evening of LipstiX. The official post-FéminiX party is already proud to be the biggest celebration of lesbian women in the 2022 edition of the festival! Come on shake your hips with pride!
