Formula 1 supports the Santander Challenge for start-ups to find next-generation sustainable solutions.

Formula 1 and Santander (Banco Santander) have joined forces to bring their combined expertise in business, innovation and sustainability to support the next generation of entrepreneurs. As part of a promotional partnership, Formula 1 will amplify the impact of the event. The announcement follows F1’s reaffirmed commitment to achieving zero carbon by 2030, as part of its broader sustainability strategy, which includes the introduction of 100% sustainable fuels in 2026 and freight and logistics innovations that improve the reduction of carbon emissions. By supporting this competition, F1 will be able to directly provide support and advice to entrepreneurs based on the extensive internal expertise of sustainable innovation.

Sustainability is also a priority for Santander, which has invested in building sustainable businesses, providing educational and financial support to the new wave of talent.

Location Countdown to zero The competition, which will be judged by a panel of F1 staff, marks the beginning of a partnership that will also take advantage of F1’s social media and digital access, along with Santander, to advance broader sustainability initiatives.

Formula 1: Zero Carbon by 2030

The six winning projects will receive prizes totaling €120,000: €30,000 for the three winning startups (€10,000 each) and €90,000 for the top three startups (€30,000 each) – plus access to the Santander X 100, the global Santander X community of the best Entrepreneurial projects. Winners’ projects will also be promoted on F1’s social and digital media platforms.
