▷ 10 Tips for Successful Visuals in Your Social Media Strategy

How do you make a more visually engaging social media strategy? How can you improve your social media design and increase traffic to your website? Follow these 10 tips…

1. Set your priority

Think about the key element that you want people to notice first on your visuals. What will your audience care about most? In design terminology, this is called a file focal point. In contrast.

2. Start with the templates

Use professionally designed templates as a starting point with a tool like Canva or any other tools and resources to create social media images even if you don’t have design experience. Of course, you don’t have to use templates forever. The idea is to develop how to create an attractive graphic and know the “rules” of design to get your audience’s attention.

3. Choose one or two readable fonts to use constantly

Remember that your audience is looking for clues about what to pay attention to and it happens quickly. By using the same fonts over and over, you train them to recognize and remember your content.

Some basic rules:

  • Choose the main font to select the text;
  • Don’t use too many fonts;
  • Choose a font suitable for the brand;
  • Never define a large body text;
  • Test your text on mobile.

4. Choose the colors of the brand and stick to it

Instead of following the latest trends or just picking the colors you love, use color for your visual identity, strategically to help you stand out and grab attention.

5. Create rules for the images you will use

Again, think about your brand’s personality and find out some adjectives you can use when choosing images. To do this, ask yourself the right questions: Are you going to use archival photography? The original picture? Infographics? What is the pattern? What mood do you want to convey?

6. Use related images

Choose the appropriate image for social networks. The more relevant your image is to the topic of your article, the more likely it is to attract the attention of people who are truly interested in that topic. The great thing about social media is that you can experiment with different visuals to see what works best. Since most people will miss most of your posts most of the time, it is perfectly normal and even advisable to share your posts multiple times. Take the opportunity to experiment with different images to see what people are interacting with.

7. Make sure there is enough contrast in the text

One of the most common mistakes is placing text on top of an image with virtually no contrast. To avoid this you can:

  • Choose images with very low detail where the text can be read easily when placed on top;
  • Use an overlay.

8. Broadcast image and text

White space is not necessarily white, think of a space between things. One of the best ways to improve your designs is to pay as much attention to the surroundings of the design elements as to the elements themselves. Concretely:

  • Don’t push the text over the edge, give it plenty of margin.
  • Align the design elements and create uniform margins.

9. Data usage

Check your data and analytics and analyze the top performing tweets, pins and posts, then ask yourself the right questions:

  • What is working? why ?
  • What is not working? why ?

Then formulate and test a hypothesis.

10. Ask for reviews

If you are not sure about your eyesight, feel free to get feedback from your target audience. Facebook groups are great for this as you can ask questions like “What do you think of this design?” »
