Meta and Simplon.co Launch Metaverse Academy – MMAF

Meta announces the launch of the first free, comprehensive school entirely dedicated to the metaverse, in partnership with Simplon.co, a community and solidarity-based digital training company. With this initiative, Meta wants to support job creation and training in new professions related to the metaverse in France, which are already in great demand by companies.

From the start of the 2022 academic year, Meta and Simplon.co will offer free courses dedicated to metaverse and immersive technologies in four major cities: Paris, Marseille, Lyon and Nice. The goal would be to train about twenty students in each city and in each class, or about a hundred people in total for the first pilot year. Other cities and formations may follow.

France has all the assets to become a major player in building the metaverse in Europe and our ecosystem is already in high demand for skills. With this strong partnership with a record player, Simplon, the Metaverse Academy is the first step that will help anticipate the acceleration of uses and training of future builders from the metaverse. We want to co-create a collective metaverse, by creating sustainable functionality for the entire digital ecosystem. Commented by Laurent Soleil, Vice President of Southern Europe at Meta

Adds Frederic Bardot, Co-Founder and President of Simplon.co

For the first phase, the program will consist of an intensive individual training session of 3 to 6 months, followed by a second phase of 12 to 18 months in rotation within the school’s partner companies.

The training will be dedicated to two new professions in tension in the labor market, identified within companies already participating in the metaverse: a designer-developer specializing in immersive technologies (virtual reality, augmented and mixed reality) and the metaverse, which appears in the list of emerging occupations identified by France Skills, and a support technician / Assistance, necessary to implement, maintain and deploy equipment and use cases across the market.

Open to all, this pilot program aims to respond to companies’ demand for emerging skills and careers related to metaverse, but also to ensure that people from diverse backgrounds can take advantage of these career opportunities. It will draw on all the technologies, equipment, and software on the market and will aim for official certifications.
