Excelia, all the way to digitization

At a meeting before the press in Paris on Tuesday, May 31, the leaders of this higher education group presented a master digital transformation plan called “XL Vision”. Through innovative and immersive technologiesEs, Excelia wants to completely reinvent its education system from campus to internship. explanations.

Excelia does not want to miss the train of digital transformation that includes all sectors of society. The entire management of this La Rochelle-based higher education group made the trip to the press on Tuesday, May 31. At the immersive pavilion in Paris, a master digital transformation plan was presented. It has been operating for five years and will mobilize 40 full-time employees, with a total investment of 5.6 million euros. “It will be funded entirely from our own money. There will be no tuition fee increase,” says Bruno Neal, CEO of Excelia.

This plan called “XL Vision” will have a profound impact on the work of the entire group located in La Rochelle, Tours and Orléans, through five separate schools. The approximately 5,000 students will be the first to benefit from this digitization. “We want more connected, more inclusive and modular teaching methods. The Director-General is insisting on truly innovating, with an education paradigm that changes in the dissemination of knowledge. In phygital, that means one that blends face-to-face and virtual. We want to put the student at the center of the immersive experience.”

To do this, the campus will be transformed into a “smart campus” and technological innovations will come to serve learning. The metaverse will be one to try and deliver immersive experiences. “It will provide a new learning experience, complementary to those on our university campus. We want to work on students’ cognitive abilities, to better retain lessons and achieve better success,” says Anthony Hay, CDO at Excelia, who is responsible for this master plan. It is possible to simulate entrepreneurial projects where students will have to raise money or even make presentations. To name all these experiments in physics or in the metaverse, the group has registered the brand ILE (Immersive Learning Experience).

XL Factory in Physics and Metaverse

To get even more “smarter,” the campus will have the look of XL Factory. This innovative learning space will be open to all students, teachers and collaborators. It is based on four dimensions: thinking (collective intelligence), creation (micro-learning studio), exploration (capturing learning) and laboratory (educational innovation). These four regions will have their weaknesses in the metaverse. “This synchronous metadata will be the digital twin of Factory XL, but it won’t just be a virtual campus,” says Anthony Hey. Other experiences will be available there.

The reflection area will be devoted to the exchange of experiences. “We will engage the startups that will come and showcase in front of our students,” explains CDO at Excelia. To pursue innovative practices, we will also include open innovation.” This XL plant will gradually appear in various universities. The four dimensions will be installed in La Rochelle from next September, and later in Orleans and Tours. “We want all our campuses to be equipped with four,” says Anthony Hey. places within six months.

Virtual and Virtual Reality will gradually broadcast Excelia. Carolyn O’Neill, the educational engineer within the group, notes that “conferences and workshops will be organized from next year on these topics.” The goal is for modules and majors to be then on specific course programs to start the 2023 academic year. “How is marketing in law, law, or finance? That’s what we want to teach our students,” emphasizes Anthony Hey. Finally, in 2024, Excelia will see the debut of the first Bachelor’s degree in “Virtual Reality and Metaverse” within its Excelia School of Digital.
