It is the war between different social networks: Twitter, Tiktok and Instagram. The latter decided to follow in the footsteps of its competitors by testing a new feature: the post is pinned to user profiles …
New feature in testing phase on Instagram
For a long time now, Instagram has allowed you to pin Stories to the top of your profile to keep them past their expiration date. But the app can do the same with posts to make sure they stand out in their own way.
It’s testing a feature that allows you to pin certain posts to your profile on top of the photo grid. It is still in the testing phase on Instagram, and is only visible to some users on the platform.
The development of this feature was already spotted last January by social media expert Alessandro Pallotsi,
If you use Twitter regularly, it may work the same way” Install in your profile Since this allows you to pin a tweet to the top of your personal feed.
Therefore, Instagram will display the “Pin to your profile” option to selected users when using the three-dot menu next to posts.
What can you use?
Similar to TikTok pinned videos or Twitter pinned tweets, it highlights individual Instagram posts at the top of the profile to draw attention to the content. So there is no point in asking followers to scroll through previous posts to find them.
Currently, Stories can only be pinned to a profile. While you can currently highlight a post in a story and then pin that story to your profile, this new feature will make that process much easier and simpler.
In fact, Instagram already allows users to create prominent stories on top of profile networks. Helps organize popular content such as questions and answers, resources, important facts from events and more.
This new feature will therefore extend this capability to a specific post on your profile. As you can imagine, this is a particularly useful feature for content creators who post often and multiple times to highlight certain content.
If this feature is rolled out after testing, well pinned posts can include trending and impactful content and become a new type of digital ad space on Instagram. One can imagine influencers working with brands to create sponsored content.
Instagram is never short of ideas to highlight posts
Instagram is not short of ideas for highlighting posts and promoting certain features. Remember that last week it started testing the removal of the “recent” tab on hashtag pages for some users.
Currently, three categories – Top, Recent, and Reels – display hashtags when you search for a specific keyword related to previously posted content. The “Top” and “Reels” tabs are now only available on hashtag pages for some users.
This change, while small, could have a huge impact on the way the app is used. Moreover, this will highlight which posts have the most engagement on the platform. It will also aim to increase the promotion of Reels, thus competing more with TikTok.
